How do I know if I need an eSIM by country, by continent, or globally?

What is the difference between a carrier eSIM and a data-only eSIM?

Operator eSIMs include a phone number for calls, messages, and mobile data. Data-only eSIMs are designed for internet browsing and using apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, Telegram, Uber, or Google Maps, without the need for a phone line.

When does my eSIM become active?

It depends on the type of eSIM. Operator eSIMs with a local number become active once you receive the QR code in your email or they are linked to your device's EID. Data-only eSIMs become active when they connect for the first time to a compatible network at your destination.

Can I install my eSIM before traveling?

Yes, although it depends on the type of eSIM. If you purchased an operator eSIM with a local number, we recommend installing it once you are in the destination country to avoid any issues. Data-only eSIMs can be safely installed up to 60 or 90 days before the trip, depending on the product.

Will my eSIM work as soon as I arrive at my destination?

Yes. Once installed and activated according to the product instructions, your eSIM will automatically connect to a compatible network upon arrival at your destination. In most cases, you will not need to make any additional configurations.

Can I share internet (Hotspot)?

Can I recharge my eSIM?
