The transfer of eSIM in Mexico is subject to various restrictions depending on the type of line and the operator. Below, we explain what is possible, what is not, and what options you have if you need to change your device or provider.

1. eSIM Transfer on Prepaid Lines

Currently, the transfer of eSIM is not available for prepaid lines with any operator in Mexico. This includes:

• Telcel
• AT&T
• Virgin Mobile
• Movistar
• Newww
• Axios
• Bait

In these cases, it is not possible to transfer your eSIM from one phone to another or recover the same QR code if you change devices.

2. eSIM Transfer on Rental Plans

The option to transfer an eSIM is available only for rental plans with the following operators:

• Telcel
• AT&T

Additionally, this transfer is only possible between iPhone devices that have the latest version of iOS.

3. Conversion from Physical SIM to eSIM

In Mexico, the conversion from a physical SIM to eSIM is only available for Telcel lines and exclusively on iPhone devices. AT&T does not offer this functionality in any modality.

4. Alternative: Portability to Another Operator

If you have a prepaid line and wish to change devices without relying on a customer service center, you can port to another operator available in our store. This allows you to keep your number and receive a new eSIM ready to use.

• If you are a Telcel user, you can port to AT&T, Virgin Mobile, Bait, Axios, or Newww.
• If you are an AT&T user, you can port to Virgin Mobile, Bait, Axios, or Newww.

Portability can be done to any operator available at telefoniamx.com, as long as it is not the same operator (for example, it is not possible to port from Bait to Bait).

6. Difference Between Transfer and Portability

• eSIM Transfer: Moving your eSIM when changing devices. Only possible on rental lines with Telcel or AT&T and from iPhone to iPhone.
• Portability: Changing operators while keeping your number. Available for prepaid.
