Installation and Requirements
Purchase and install your Movistar eSIM once you are in Mexico. Your Movistar eSIM Mexico includes the selected recharge: if your Movistar prepaid eSIM is active, the recharge is linked from the date we sent your Movistar eSIM to your email; if it is preactivated, the recharge will be linked to your Movistar prepaid eSIM until you respond to the delivery email with the assigned number after calling *611 for 20 seconds. Installation is via QR code (one-time use).
This Movistar Mexico eSIM requires the latest version of the Android or iOS operating system and it is not necessary to contract Movistar eSIM plans.
You must be in Mexico under native coverage (not extended with Telcel) for your Movistar prepaid eSIM to activate.
By official provision, you must link your line with your INE, CURP, or passport (applies to foreigners and locals) to your Movistar digital chip. A link will be sent to carry out the process in the delivery email. Your Movistar Mexico eSIM will remain without service until it is linked. More information here.
Your Line
New line: when purchasing Movistar eSIM, select an available Numeric Series whose first digit starts with 6, or choose “Automatic” for a number to be assigned automatically based on the activation location to your Movistar Mexico eSIM.
From the validity of the included recharge, you only need to recharge the amount of your recharge to maintain your Movistar virtual SIM. If you prefer, your Movistar virtual chip can remain up to 60 days without recharging.

Your eSIM QR code is for one-time use only and cannot be scanned more than once. Contact support in case of any issues.
Activation
When purchasing a Movistar eSIM, it requires coverage exclusively in Mexico to be activated; it cannot be activated in another country. We recommend buying and installing/activating your eSIM while in Mexico.
Identity Linking
By official order, when purchasing your eSIM, mandatory linking with INE, CURP, or passport is required, without exceptions. If you are a tourist, you can link your line with a passport. The line remains inactive until the linking is completed through the link included in the delivery email.
Prepaid Mode
The Movistar Mexico eSIM price includes the selected recharge. Your eSIM is prepaid: you are not subject to any rental plan. Once the included recharge in your order is finished, you can recharge only the amount you choose. Your eSIM line can remain for up to 60 days without recharging.
SIM Movistar to eSIM Movistar
It is not possible to replace a physical SIM with an eSIM. It is suggested to switch to another operator (for example, AT&T, Axios, Newww, or another).
